Salem Students Participate In The Great Central U.S. Shakeout Earthquake Drill
Salem School District students and staff joined 2.4 million participants across 9 states in The Great Central U.S. Shakeout Earthquake Drill. The 60 second drill included the use of the internationally recognized “Drop, Cover, and Hold On” earthquake protocol: Drop on the ground, take Cover by getting under a sturdy desk or table, and Hold On to it until the shaking stops.
Upon completion of the drill, students were evacuated to a safe area that would serve as the student pick-up and bus loading zone in an actual emergency situation.
